The Texas Indigenous Data Sovereignty Study represents a heartfelt collaboration led by the Texas Tribal Buffalo Project (TTBP). This important endeavor employs culturally rooted methods to foster cultural revival, responsible data management, and inclusive partnerships.

The Texas Indigenous Data Sovereignty Study is a joint effort spearheaded by Texas Tribal Buffalo Project (TTBP) that utilizes culturally based methodologies to create opportunities for cultural restoration, data stewardship, and collaborative partnerships. The study is supported by Agri-Cultura/La Cosecha, Indigenous Peoples of the Coastal Bend, Kalpulli Ehekatl Papalotzin, Center for Environmental Studies at Rice University, American Indians in Texas at the Spanish Colonial Mission, Village Earth and Native Lands Advocacy Project, Tap Pilam Coahuiltecan Nation, Lipan Apache, the United States Department of Agriculture: Agricultural Marketing Service, Urban Indian Health Institute, and Sweet Grass Consulting, LLC.
IF YOU ARE AN INDIGENOUS PERSON WHO LIVES IN TEXAS OR HAS ROOTS CONNECTED TO TEXAS WE WELCOME YOU TO PARTICIPATE.
THE STUDY WILL:
1) Help to better understand Indigenous peoples’ connection to the lands known as Texas.
2) Provide food, health, identity, lifeways, economic, and other related data
3) Identify new pathways for Indigenous peoples of Texas
4) Recommend actionable strategies to increase healthy access to services in Texas
5) Assess new market and community opportunities for Indigenous service providers
6) Develop a longitudinal database of Indigenous peoples with connections to Texas.
