Regenerative Agriculture and Traditional Ecological Knowledge Skills
The Texas Tribal Buffalo Project's Regenerative Agriculture Initiative involves restoring blackland prairie on land in Waelder County, Texas, in alignment with their mission of buffalo conservation. Currently, TTBP is cultivating brome grass, with the ultimate goal of using the most suitable seed species to remediate the land and enhance biodiversity. To further this endeavor, TTBP plans to collaborate with the Texas Nature Conservancy and Tanka Fund. Additionally, the project has earned the prestigious 2023 Texan by Nature Project Certification, recognizing its significant conservation efforts benefiting both people and natural resources. This certification underscores TTBP's commitment to meaningful environmental stewardship and community involvement.
